The present invention relates to a hydrodehalogenation method in which a halogen atom on a carbon atom of an organic compound is removed by substituting the halogen atom with a hydrogen atom, and to a method for producing a dehalogenated compound. The hydrodehalogenation method is characterized by including treating an organic compound having a halogen atom on a carbon atom thereof in a solvent with a compound represented by formula (2-1):
