  Polymeric products are prepared by polymerizing in aqueous medium under addition polymerization conditions a dispersed phase of a polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated monomer or mixture of polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated monomers in the presence of a polyepoxide-amine adduct which contains pendent unsaturation and which contains cationic groups derived from the amine. The polymeric products are useful in water-based coating compositions particularly for use in cationic electrodeposition.
