  [EN] There is provided a standard for use in testing for captan in immunoassays. This standard has the structure THPD-(CH2)x-(R<3>)y-R<1> wherein THPD is c &cir& _i &cir& _s &cir& _-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalimido, x is an integer from 1 to 10, R<1> selected from the group consisting of -COOH, -NH2, -NO2, -SH and -OH, R<3> is an aryl moiety and y is 0 or 1. Compounds of this general structure are known, they mimic the immunological reaction of captan and related compounds which are not stable in water and thus cannot be satisfactorily used as standards in testing for the presence and level of presence of captan and related compounds. There is also provided a method of carrying out such testing, utilizing such standards in which the standard (I) is coupled to a protein that is large enough to elicit an immune response in warm blooded animals, to yield compound (II). THPD-(CH2)x-(R<3>)y-R<2>-[-C*-]-[LP](II), wherein C** is a coupling agent capable of coupling a member of the group R<1> to a protein, R<2> is the residue remaining when R<1> is coupled with coupling agent C**, C* is the residue remaining from coupling agent C** after coupling a member of the group R<1> to a protein and LP is a protein of sufficient size to generate an antibody response in a warm blooded animal.

La structure de cet étalon répond à la formule THPD-(CH2)x-(R3)y-R1, dans laquelle THPD désigne c_i_s_-1,2,3,6-tétrahydrophtalimido, x est un nombre entier compris entre 1 et 10, R1 fait partie du groupe comprenant -COOH, -NH2, -NO2, -SH et -OH, R3 est une fraction aryle et y vaut à 0 ou 1. Les composés de cette structure générale sont connus: ils simulent la réaction immunologique du captane et des composés s'y rapportant qui ne sont pas stables dans l'eau, et ne peuvent donc pas être utilisés comme étalons de manière satisfaisante dans les essais destinés à déterminer la présence et le niveau de captane et des composés s'y rapportant.
