The rhodium catalysed 1,4-carbonylative addition of arylboronic acids to methyl vinylketone under carbon monoxide pressure was studied. High yields of 1,4-diketones were obtained using a catalytic system formed from Rh(COD)2BF4 (COD=1,5-cyclooctadiene) and triphenylphosphine even at very low catalyst loading (0.02 mol %). A short synthetic procedure combining this carbonylation reaction with a subsequent

radiosynthetic method for [11C]aryl nitriles via nickel-mediated carbon-fluorine bond activation is reported. This method enables the efficient ipso-11C-cyanation of a broad range of arylfluorides, including pharmaceutical drugs. Stoichiometric reactions and theoretical studies indicate that LiCl greatly promotes the oxidative addition of arylfluorides to a nickel(0) complex, affording aryl(chloro)nickel(II)

in which A represents oxygen or specified imido groups;
P' represents a 3-furyl, a 3-thienyl, a 3-pyrryl, a 3-benzofuryl or a 3-benzothienyl group, said 3-furyl, 3-thienyl and 3-pyrryl groups which is unsubstituted or substituted in the 2-position and/or the 5-position, with specified substituents;
p2 represents alkyl having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl having 3 to 12 carbon atoms, aralkyl having 7 to 9 carbon atoms, aryl having 6 to 14 carbon atoms which may be unsubstituted or substituted with one or more halogen atoms, or alkaryl having 7 to 22 carbon atoms; and
F>C* and E>C* represent a substituted or unsubstituted bridged polycyclic hydrocarbon residue containing from 7 to 20 carbon atoms in a polycyclic system, said residue having a plane of asymmetry which is parallel to the plane which includes the single bonds extending from carbon atom C* and the anhydride or imide ring, any substituents on the bridged polycyclic hydrocarbyl residue being selected from alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, halogen atoms and hydroxy groups.
The present invention provides a 2,3-dihydro-6-nitroimidazo[2,1-b]oxazole compound represented by the following general formula:
wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or C1-C6 alkyl group, n represents an integer of 0 to 6, R2 represents a group -OR3 or the like, and R3 represents a hydrogen atom, C1-C6 alkyl group or the like, or R1 and -(CH2)nR2 may bind to each other together with carbon atoms adjacent thereto through nitrogen atoms so as to form a spiro ring represented by the general formula (H):
