    The present invention aims to provide a liquid crystal display device in which image sticking and stains are sufficiently reduced. The present invention relates to an alignment film including: a polymer, wherein the polymer is a polysiloxane or a polyvinyl and contains a silsesquioxane group. The present invention also relates to a polymer for use in the alignment film, the polymer containing a silsesquioxane group. The present invention also relates to a liquid crystal display device including: the alignment film; a pair of substrates; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the substrates, wherein the alignment film is disposed between at least one of the substrates and the liquid crystal layer.

    The present invention aims to provide a sealant for sealing liquid crystal and a liquid crystal display device, which can sufficiently reduce image sticking and stains at the periphery of a liquid crystal display. The sealant for sealing liquid crystal of the present invention contains a curable resin and a radical polymerization initiator, wherein the radical polymerization initiator contains a silsesquioxane group. The silsesquioxane group is preferably a group represented by the following formula (I) or (II): wherein R1s are the same as or different from each other and each represent a monovalent organic group; R2 represents a divalent linking group; R3s are the same as or different from each other and each represent a monovalent organic group; and R4 represents a divalent linking group.

    A liquid crystal panel included in a scanning antenna includes: a TFT substrate including a first dielectric substrate, a TFT supported by the first dielectric substrate, a gate bus line, a source bus line, a patch electrode, and a first alignment film covering the patch electrode; a slot substrate including a second dielectric substrate, a slot electrode formed on a first main surface of the second dielectric substrate and including a slot disposed corresponding to the patch electrode, and a second alignment film covering the slot electrode; and a liquid crystal layer provided between the TFT substrate and the slot substrate and containing a liquid crystal molecule including an isothiocyanate group. The first alignment film and the second alignment film are each independently formed of a polyimide-based alignment film material. In each of the first alignment film and the second alignment film, a density of a carboxyl group on a film surface in contact with the liquid crystal layer is less than a density of a carboxyl group inside a film.

    A liquid crystal cell according to the present invention includes a TFT board including a first dielectric substrate, TFTs supported by the first dielectric substrate, and patch electrodes, a slot board including a second dielectric substrate and a slot electrode having slots and supported by the second dielectric substrate, and a liquid crystal layer between the TFT board and the slot board, which are positioned with the patch electrodes and the slot electrode facing each other, and a sealant disposed between the TFT board and the slot board and surrounding the liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal layer includes a liquid crystal compound containing an isothiocyanate group.
