    A lubricating oil additive for diesel engines comprising one or more members of carboxylic acids, metal salts of carboxylic acids, amine salts of carboxylic acids, and carboxylic acid amides, each having a substituted amino group or substituted amino groups in a molecule, wherein the substituted aminocarboxylic acid compounds have a function of dispersing water-containing calcium sulfate in an oil; and a lubricating oil composition for diesel engines including these lubricating oil additives for diesel engines. When the lubricating oil additives and the lubricating oil compositions for diesel engines of the present invention are added to the lubricating oil, the dispersion function of the water-containing calcium sulfate admixed in the lubricating oil is dramatically improved, and the dispersion functions in oil of the staining components, such as soots, sludges, and the like, mentioned above owned by the lubricating oil are enhanced, so that its detergency is dramatically improved. Therefore, it is made possible to lower the concentration in the amount of the metal-based detergent as well as to lengthen the service life of the lubricating oil.

    This disclosure relates to a low viscosity lubricating turbine oil having a composition comprising a lubricating oil base stock, as a major component, and one or more lubricating oil additives, as minor components. The lubricating turbine oil has a kinematic viscosity of about 16 cSt to about 22 cSt at 40° C., a density of about 0.8 g/ml to about 0.9 g/ml, and an absolute evaporation loss at 150° C. of less than about 4%. This disclosure also relates to a method for improving energy efficiency in a turbomachine lubricated with the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil. This disclosure further relates to a method for improving energy efficiency while maintaining or improving deposit control and lubricating oil additive solvency in a turbomachine lubricated with the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil. This disclosure yet further relates to a method for improving solubility, compatibility and dispersancy of polar additives in the low viscosity lubricating turbine oil.

    This disclosure relates to heat transfer fluids for use in heat transfer systems. The heat transfer fluids comprise at least one non-aqueous dielectric heat transfer fluid. The non-aqueous dielectric heat transfer fluid has density (ρ), specific heat (cp), and dynamic viscosity (μ) properties. The heat transfer fluids have a normalized effectiveness factor (NEFfluid) as determined by the following equation: N ⁢ E ⁢ F fluid = DEF fluid DEF reference ; wherein DEFfluid is a dimensional effectiveness factor for the heat transfer fluid that is determined based on an equation designated in Table 1 below for a selected pump and a selected heat transfer circuit dominant flow regime; wherein DEFreference is a dimensional effectiveness factor for a reference fluid that is determined using the same equation designated in Table 1 for DEFfluid above for the same selected pump and the same selected heat transfer circuit dominant flow regime; and TABLE 1 (Heat Transfer Fluid and Reference Fluid) Selected Heat Transfer Circuit Flow Regime Transition Selected Pump Laminar (Blasius) Positive Displacement Pump ρ1 cp1 μ−1 ρ0.25 cp1 μ−0.25 Centrifugal Pump ρ0.19 cp1 μ−0.19 ρ0.04 cp1 μ−0.04 wherein the heat transfer fluid has a NEFfluid value equal to or greater than 1.0.
