A process is disclosed for making polymer pellets comprising unreacted free radical generator which can be degraded upon thermal treatment to form an ultra low melt viscosity polyolefin, which process comprises the steps of adding polyolefin and free radical generator required for the degradation in the extruder to the first half section of an extruder and injecting, optionally through a side-arm extruder, another portion of free radical generator near the exit of the extruder to provide a sufficient amount of unreacted free radical generator in the pellets produced, followed by pelletizing the resulting molten mixture to form uniform non-sticky pellets.
This invention discloses a radiation curable coating composition which is comprised of (1) a crosslinked polymeric resin which is comprised of repeat units which are derived from (a) at least one member selected from the group consisting of acrylate monomers and vinyl aromatic monomers and (b) a crosslinking monomer; (2) an acrylate diluting monomer; and (3) a photocatalyst. The subject invention further discloses a process for coating a three-dimensional substrate which comprises applying a radiation curable coating composition to the surface of the substrate and subsequently exposing the surface of the substrate to radiation to cure the coating onto the surface of the substrate, wherein the radiation curable coating composition is comprised of (1) a crosslinked polymeric resin which is comprised of repeat units which are derived from (a) at least one member selected from the group consisting of acrylate monomers and vinyl aromatic monomers and (b) a crosslinking monomer; (2) an acrylate diluting monomer; and (3) a photocatalyst.

Described herein are coatings and formulations thereof for coating a substrate for use in producing a lubricious coating on a substrate surface that is to be inserted into the body lumen of a subject. Said coatings all contain an adhesion promoting coating formulation for applying to a substrate material that is formed from a polymeric adhesion promoter, a monomeric or polymeric crosslinking agent and a photoinitiator, where the polymeric adhesion promoter is a block copolymer comprising hydrophobic hydrophilic polymer blocks and/or a hydrophilic polymer comprising hydrophilic functional groups, where from 10% to 100% of the hydrophilic functional groups are capped with a hydrophobic functional group and the formulations thereof further contain a solvent to enable the coating to be applied to a substrate surface.
