  The production, isolation and partial characterisation of a new lipase from Geotrichum candidum is described, as well as several uses for it. It is called lipase B and is extremely specific for 9-cis fatty acids.   The discovery and development of essential drugs for Chagas disease is a major concern worldwide. New substituted 1,4-naphthoquinones were synthesized and tested against the infective bloodstream form of Tiypanosoma cruzi, the etiological agent of Chagas disease.
