    The invention pertains to a composition of a ketone peroxide comprising a) a peroxide derivative of the formula HOO—C(R 1 )(R 2 )—OOH wherein R 1 is a branched or unbranched alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkenyl group with 2 to 4 carbon atoms; and R 2 is a branched or unbranched alkyl or alkenyl group with 5 to 12 carbon atoms; and b) a branched or unbranched hydrocarbon solvent; the peroxide derivative of a) having a solubility more than 40 g in 100 g of the solvent of b) at 20° C.; and comprises less than 10 wt % of a peroxide derivative of the formula HOO—C(R 1 )(R 2 )—OO—C(R 1 )(R 2 )—OOH, wherein R 1 and R 2 have the previously given meanings.

    Principal solvents, especially mono-ol and diol principal solvents, having a ClogP of from about 0.15 to about 0.64, preferably from about 0.25 to about 0.62, and more preferably from about 0.40 to about 0.60, are disclosed that have the ability to make clear aqueous fabric softener compositions containing relatively high concentrations of fabric softener actives having ester linkages in their long, hydrophobic chains. The fabric softener actives are either unsaturated, or have intermediate length chains (˜C 12-14 ) and the said principal solvents are used at levels of less than about 40%. Other solvents may be present. Some of the said principal solvents are novel compounds and/or novel mixtures. Premixes of the fabric softening actives, the principal solvents, and, optionally, other solvents are useful in the preparation of complete formulations by obviating/limiting the need for heating.

    Aqueous dispersions of oil-modified, carboxyl-containing, urethane polymers are prepared by reacting diisocyanates or their isocyanate-terminated prepolymers, with half-esters of hindered diols, especially 2,2,4-trimethyl-1, 3-pentanediol, and anhydrides of polycarboxylic acids, preferably aromatic acids having at leastthree carboxylic groups, especially trimellitic anhydride. The urethane polymers are "oil-modified", i.e., extended with unsaturated fatty acid esterpolyols; and when neutralized with ammonia or amines can be dispersed in water to form especially desirable coating compositions. An organic phosphite may be incorporated in the compositions to control the development of hardness in films made from the aqueous dispersions and thereby avoid the formation of wrinkles in films that are made from the compositions.
