wherein R1 represents an alkyl group or an aryl group;
R2 and R3 each represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group;
and R4 represents an alkyl group, and a process for preparing a 4-fluoro-3-oxocarboxylate represented by the above formula (1), which comprises allowing a 2-fluorocarboxylate represented by the following formula (2):
wherein R1 and R2 have the same meanings as defined above;
and R5 represents an alkyl group,
to react with a carboxylate represented by the following formula (3):
wherein R3 and R4 have the same meanings as defined above, in the presence of a base.
