5-Hydroxy-6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyrimidine compounds are prepared by the condensation of dihydroxyfumarate derivatives with amidines. The pyrimidine compounds are useful as intermediates in the preparation of pharmacologically active compounds.
The present invention relates to a method of preparing a yellow pigment comprising an asymmetric quinolonoquinolone in an amount greater than 5% by weight of the yellow pigment. Also disclosed are modified yellow pigments comprising this yellow pigment having attached at least one organic group as well as inkjet ink compositions comprising the yellow pigments or the modified yellow pigments.

Acenes, such as aza-acenes are attractive materials for organic semiconductors, specifically for n-type materials. There are disclosed new derivatives of acenes that are fabricated using novel synthesis. For example, the disclosed fabrication strategies have allowed for the first time new aza-tetracene and aza-pentacene derivatives. The HOMO and LUMO energy levels of these materials are tunable through appropriate substitution and as predicted, deepened. There are also disclosed organic photosensitive devices comprising at least one aza-acene such as aza-tetracene and aza-pentacene.

The present invention relates to modified yellow pigments comprising yellow pigments having attached at least one organic group. The yellow pigment is a fluoroquinolonoquinolone pigment of formula I wherein R3 is fluorine and R1, R2 and R4 are hydrogen.
