Deprotection of allyl/benzyl aryl ethers was achieved chemoselectively. The mild and inexpensive reagent combination of NiCl2 center dot 6H(2)O/NaBH4 in methanol afforded the products in high yields, within a reaction time of 5-10 min. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
