The synthesis of 2,2,4,4,6,6-hexanitroadamantane from the precursors, 4,4,6,6-tetranitroadamantan-2-one and 4,4-dinitroadamantane-2,6-dione is reported. The complete1H and 13CNMRassignment of these compounds by 2D 13C-1H shift correlated spectra, 1H-1H COSY spectra and 1H-1H NOESY spectra is described.
