Two new polymorphs of diphenyl(4-pyridyl)methyl methacrylate
摘要:
The title compound (D4PyMA), C22H19NO2, exhibits polymorphism after crystallization by slow evaporation from a binary mixture of chloroform and hexane. Long needle-like crystals have an orthorhombic structure (space group Fdd2), with one molecule in the asymmetric unit, while small tablet-like crystals exhibit a monoclinic crystal structure (space group P2(1)/n), in which two independent but chemically identical molecules comprise the asymmetric unit. The bond lengths and angles are normal, while the torsion angles around the -C-O- bond linking the diphenyl(4-pyridyl)methyl and methacrylate groups show the flexibility of the molecule by way of packing effects. The two polymorphs both contain weak C-H...pi and C-H...O/N contacts but have different conformations.
A new organic polymer useful for the optical resolution or solvent fractionation is provided. The organic polymer is a homopolymer or copolymer comprising mainly a specific methacrylate ester constitutional unit and having (+) or (-) optical rotation and, therefore, an optical activity.

A polymerizable polymer is obtained by the anionic polymerization and termination by use of a vinyl monomer. It produces a graft copolymer by co-polymerization with another monomer. The process produces a new, polymerizable, optically active polymer and a graft copolymer thereof.
A responsive microgel is provided which responds volumetrically and reversibly to a change in one or more aqueous conditions selected from the group consisting of (temperature, pH, and ionic conditions) comprised of an ionizable network of covalently cross-linked homopolymeric ionizable monomers wherein the ionizable network is covalently attached to an amphiphilic copolymer to form a plurality of ‘dangling chains’ and wherein the ‘dangling chains’ of amphiphilic copolymer form immobile micelle-like aggregates in aqueous solution. A responsive microgel is further provided that comprises at least one therapeutic entity and delivers a substantially linear and sustained release of the therapeutic entity under physiological conditions.
