  A short and efficient synthesis of the substituted tetramines 2a and 7 and of the gadolinium complex 1 was developed starting from the Cbz-protected amino alcohol 3. Key steps of the synthesis are the optimized bleach oxidation of enantiopure alcohols and the bridging of the resulting aldehyde molecules by double reductive amination with ethylenediamine.
