Alternative synthesis of TTF donors with a dioxolane ring, and synthesis of their dithiolane and oxathiolane analogues

3-dithiolane, or 1,3-oxathiolane ring (1–3) has been accomplished via the (MeO)3P-promoted cross-coupling reaction of the corresponding new ketones (6–8) and thiones (9a-c). The radical-cation salts derived from 2a with AuI2−, BF4−, and AsF6− exhibited metallic conducting behavior for single crystals.
