The ambident nucleophile diisopropylphosphorothioate, (Me2CHO)2POS− reacts with halides of silicon, germanium and tin to yield O-bonded derivatives (Me2CHO)2P(S)OMR3 (M = Si, Ge, Sn; R = Me, Ph). These findings are discussed in terms of the energetics of the isomerisation: (Me2CHO)2P(S)OMR3 → (Me2CHO)2P(O)SMR3.
