    To provide: a carboxamide derivative having reduced content of amide ester; a method for producing thereof; and a detergent composition containing the carboxamide derivative and having excellent low-temperature stability. One method for producing a carboxamide derivative is to react carboxamide, produced with a manufacturing method of carboxamide including 0.02% by weight to 0.18% by weight of amide ester, with hydrogen peroxide, wherein the method includes a carboxamide synthesis process to synthesize carboxamide by reacting diamine with fatty acid ester at a molar rate of 1.20 to 1.60. Another method for producing a carboxamide derivative is to react the carboxamide with monohaloalkylcarboxylic acid or a salt thereof. A carboxamide derivative is produced by the method for producing a carboxamide derivative. A detergent composition includes the carboxamide derivative. The carboxamide derivative is preferably amidoamine oxide or amide betaine.

  • Comparison of the gelation behaviour of N-substituted tetradecanamide amphiphiles in organic liquids: effect of hydrogen-bonding ability of the head-group

    In this work, we have investigated the role of intermolecular hydrogen-bonding (H-bonding) interaction of the head-groups of amphiphilic organogelators. For this we have designed, synthesized and studied the gelation behaviour of a series of amide amphiphiles having hydrocarbon chains with the same length (C14) but with –COOH, –OH, –NH2 or –N(CH3)2) functionalities as head-group. These gelators, except the one with –N(CH3)2 head-group, efficiently gelated aromatic solvents. The gelation in all the solvents employed was observed to be thermoreversible. The gels were characterized by XRD spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and rheology. The amphiphiles were observed to form ribbon-like aggregates in aromatic solvents. The gel-to-sol transition temperatures as well as mechanical strengths of the organogels were observed to increase with the spacer length. The results suggest that the intermolecular H-bonding interactions between head-groups were essential for gelation.

    Provided is a hair cosmetic composition containing Components (A) to (C), and having a pH (at 25°C) of from 1 to 5.5 when diluted to 20 times its weight with water: (A) a cationic surfactant, or a tertiary amine represented by the formula (1): (wherein, at least one of R1 to R3 represents a C8-23 aliphatic hydrocarbon and the remainder represents H, C1-6 alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, or benzyl, R4 represents a C1-6 alkylene, A represents -CONH- or -NHCO-, and a stands for 0 or 1), (B) a C8-30 aliphatic alcohol, and (C) toluenesulfonic acid or salt thereof. The hair cosmetic composition is excellent in the effect of restoring the flyaway or waved hair, which has appeared as a result of accumulation of damage due to hair coloring or the like, to its former state before damage and can give the hair good flexibility and smoothness during use of it.
