In order to get further information on the effect of terminal groups on the spectral regularity of diarylpoly-ynes, we carried out the syntheses of bis(4-biphenylyl)poly-ynes (In, n=1–6) and 2,2′-difluorenylpoly-ynes (IIn, n=1–4 and 6). The bathochromic shift of the longest-wavelength absorption maxima (λL) along with the increase in n was found to be expressed by the following empirical formulas:In:λL=24
The syntheses of α,ω-di-2-pyrenyl- and α,ω-di-2-fluorenylpolyenes In and In′ (n=1–6) by means of the Wittig reaction are described. Aldehydes II, II′, propenals IV, IV′, pentadienals V, V′ bearing 2-pyrenyl or 2-fluorenyl terminal group and muconaldehyde VI were used as carbonyl components. Phosphoranes III, III′, VII, VII′, VIII and VIII′ were prepared from methyl-, propenyl-, and pentadienyltriphenylphosphonium
We have investigated photoinduced conductors and photoelectric conversion materials using new tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivatives containing a fluorescent part In this study we focused on new TTF molecules 1-3 in which a fluorene molecule was used as a fluorescent part and was connected to the TTF moiety through alkyl or alkene spacers We discuss the synthesis electrochemical properties and optical properties of molecules 1-3 We also investigated the photoelectric conversion functionality by photoelectrochemical method using the thin films of molecules 1-3 that were spin-coated on ITO-coated glass substrate We observed electric current generations that depend on the absorption spectra of thin films suggesting that absorbed photons are converted to electric currents on the thin film/ITO electrode (C) 2009 Elsevier B V All rights reserved
