  PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for mass-productively manufacturing a benzyl ester compound in an industrial scale which permits the manufacture of a purified cyclopropanecarboxylic acid benzyl ester compound of high purity in an excellent yield with reduced energy consumption.

  SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the purified ester compound comprises steam-distilling, using a distillation apparatus equipped with a rectification column, a crude product containing the cyclopropanecarboxylic acid benzyl ester compound obtained by a transesterification reaction of a cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester compound with a benzyl alcohol compound.
