  The yellow complex trans-[PtCl2L2] (L = PPh2CH(SiMe3)2) has been characterised. An attempt to make a similar complex with the more sterically hindered phosphine PPh2C(SiMe3)3 resulted in the loss of a trimethylsilyl group from one phosphine ligand and activation of a CH bond in another to give the white complex H2PPh2CH(SiMe3)2}, the structure of which was established by X-ray diffraction.
