C–C bond fragmentation of structurally diverse carbocycles has been applied to the divergent synthesis of dendrimers. The fragmentation has been paired to deprotection or thio-Michael reaction, allowing the preparation of a fourth generation dendrimer of narrow molecular weight distribution.
