  A method is provided for treating or inhibiting helminthiasis by parenterally or topically administering sulfide or sulfoxide derivatives of benzimidazoles having the structure ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is lower alkyl or phenyl-lower alkyl, R.sup.2 and R.sub.3 may be the same or different and are hydrogen or lower alkyl, Z is ##STR2## or R.sup.4 --C.tbd.C--, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 may be the same or different and are hydrogen, lower alkyl, or phenyl, and m is 0 to 3, n is 0 to 3, m + n being .ltoreq. 5, and p is 0 or 1.
