derivative was used as the starting material. [2+2] Photocycloaddition of tetraolefin gave the desired calix[4]arene analogs having chiral and achiral structure in 12-77% yields. The optical resolution was successfully achieved by using the HPLC method. The calixarene analog formed a 1:1 complex with alkali metal ions and extracted large metal picrates better than small ones.
