Reaction of hydrogenosilanes with dimethyl Pt(II) complexes promoted by hemilabile P,N-chelating ligands

Reaction of [(kappa(2)-P,N)-Me2N(CH2)(3)PPh2]PtMe2 [(P boolean AND N)PtMe2] with HSiR3 (triethylsilane or diphenylmethylsilane) results in the formation of MeSiR3 and the methyl silyl complexes (P boolean AND N)Pt(Me)SiR3. In the early stages of the reaction, the hydrido complex (P boolean AND N)Pt(Me)H is additionally observed. In the reaction of HSiMePh2 the rearranged complex (P boolean AND N)Pt(Ph)SiMe2Ph is also formed. The reactivity of the complexes (P boolean AND N)PtMe2 is influenced by the kind of chelating P boolean AND N ligand and appears to depend on how easily the amino group is de-coordinated.
