Deconjugation of diacetone D-glucose alpha, beta-unsaturated esters has been conducted by deprotonation using NaHMDS with HMPA as co-solvent followed by stereoselective protonation at low temperature. A cis-acting enoyl reductase (ER) catalytic domain was isolated from a fungal highly reducing iterative polyketidesynthase (HR-iPKS) for the first time and studied in vitro.
