  1-N,N-Diethylcarbamoyl-1,3-butadiene is easily prepared from cis-1,4-di(N, N-diethylcarbamoyl)but-2-ene and reacts, as the vinyl anion, with various electrophiles. The preparation of the diene demonstrates the leaving ability of the N, N-dialkylcarbamoyl group.
