Intramolecular Interaction of Porphyrin Moieties in 2,5-Piperazinedione-Bridged Porphyrin Dimers

Diastereomerically pure 2,5-piperazinedione-bridged meso-tetraarylporphyrin dimers were synthesized with easy procedures. 1H NMR, UV-vis, and CD spectra showed that porphyrin moieties in the l,l-molecule interacted more strongly than those in the d,l-isomer and this interaction decreased with substitution by 3,5-di-t-butyl groups on the meso-phenyl substituents.
