    It is intended to provide a method whereby residual detergent (surfactant) can be conveniently and accurately detected in the step of washing or rinsing dishes or clothes, and a test device usable in examining the rinsed conditions. Namely, a method characterized by comprising bringing a test substance with a composition (test agent) comprising an oxalic acid ester, a fluorescent substance, hydrogen peroxide and a strong acid and thus easily detecting the residual detergent sticking to the surface of the test subject from the chemiluminescence thus caused; and a test device which is most suitable for storing the test agent as described above.

    Provided are an oxidizing liquid for a chemiluminescent material, which has a flash point higher than that of a conventional oxidizing liquid and also has high safety while maintaining the level of chemiluminescent performance; and a chemiluminescence system. Disclosed are an oxidizing liquid for a chemiluminescent material, which produces a chemiluminescence phenomenon when mixed with a fluorescent liquid containing an oxalic acid ester and a fluorescent substance, includes hydrogen peroxide and a solvent and has a flash point of 60°C or higher, wherein a solvent to be contained in the oxidizing liquid is a mixture of at least two compounds other than phthalate compounds; and a chemiluminescence system using the oxidizing liquid and a fluorescent liquid.

    Devices have a flexible housing with an inside chamber having a closed and open end. A first chemiluminescent fluid is disposed in a breakable container in the chamber, and a second chemiluminescent fluid is in the chamber. A tip assembly is attached to the housing and includes a nib movably disposed in the body, and a filter element may be positioned within the body to prevent passage of broken particles from the container to the nib tip. A resilient element is used to impose an outward biasing force on the nib. A porous material is disposed over an outer surface of the nib tip and securely held in place. The device is activated for use by bending the housing to break the container causing the first and second chemiluminescent fluids to mix and react, providing a chemiluminescent solution that flows to the tip assembly for dispensing onto a desired surface.

    A method and apparatus is described for eliminating atherosclerotic vascular disease by exposing the interior of an artery or vein to visible or ultraviolet light of a selected spectrum to thereby sterilize the artery, eradicating infectious pathogens and reverse the pathogenesis of atherosclerotic artery disease. The light energy can be supplied through a fiber optic bundle positioned via an intra-arterial catheter that is connected to an appropriate light radiation source located outside of the body during treatment. In another form of the invention, the light energy is produced by means of a light energy source located at the distal tip of the instrument shaft positioned centrally within the atherosclerotic plaque formation during treatment. In this case, the power source at the distal tip of the instrument can, for example, be a light emitting diode (LED) or a transparent tube containing a chemical or chemilumlumenescent substance for producing cool light energy within the vessel to destroy the pathogenic microorganisms in the surrounding plaque or vessel without damage to the body issue of the patient.
