ester–amide exchange reaction enables spontaneous formation of prebiotic proto-peptides under mild conditions. However, this reaction also leads to oligomers with a vast sequence diversity of ester and amide linkages. Here, we demonstrate using deepeutecticsolvents as a universal strategy to regulate the reaction pathways and promote the formation of amino acid-enriched oligomers with peptide backbones

This invention relates to a method for quantitatively determining components, which comprises converting NAD(P)H existing in a sample or being produced from components other than the intended component by a reaction to NA(D)P with oxidized type glutathione and glutathione reductase, decomposing remaining oxidized type glutathione by the action of γ-glutamyltranspeptidase in the presence or absence of a mercapto compound, and determining the intended component by utilizing the reaction of producing NAD(P)H. This method enables the amylase activity or the like of a component of a living body containing maltose or glucose to be determined accurately.

A new series Of L-glutamic acid p-nitroanilide analogues has been synthesized and tested as substrates and inhibitors of rat kidney gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT). Kinetic parameters (K-m and k(cat)) were determined for each analogue and provide insight into the scope and limits of GGT catalytic efficiency. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
