Enantioenriched allenylsilanes are used as carbon nucleophiles in three-component reactions with in situgenerated N-sulfonylimines to selectively form syn-homopropargylic sulfonamides. The reactions proceed with a variety of aldehyde and sulfonamide reaction partners. Activation of anthrone via benzylic deprotonation in the presence of triethylamine paves the way for the 1,2-addition reaction with imines to provide the desired functionalized anthrones in good to excellent yields under mild and operationally simple reaction conditions with a broad range of substrate scopes without using any external additives or toxic stoichiometric reagents.

An efficient rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric addition reaction of potassiumalkenyltrifluoroborates to N-nosylaldimines has been developed. Under optimal conditions, the reactions proceeded with good to excellent yields and excellent enantioselectivities (97 → 99% ee). The utility of this method is demonstrated by the formal synthesis of (−)-aurantioclavine.
