The 1:1 reaction of [Au(acac)(PPh(3))] (Hacac = acetylacetone) with ammonium salts [HL]X (X = CF3SO3, L = 2-nitroaniline, 4-methoxyaniline. NHPh(2) or NHEt(2); X = ClO4, L = NMe(3)) in diethyl ether gave complexes [Au(PPh(3))L]X and acety]acetone. The crystal structure of [Au(PPh(3))(NMe(3))][ClO4] was determined; orthorhombic, space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), a = 9.498(2), b = 10.322(2) c = 26.154(4) Angstrom, wR(F-2) 0.091. The gold atom is linearly co-ordinated to both ligands [AU-P 2.231 (2). Au-N 2.108(7) Angstrom, P-Au-N 179.3(2)degrees] and no intermolecular Au..Au contacts exist.

The reaction of [AuClC(NEt2)(NHBu)-Bu-t}] with Tl(acac)] (1:1) gives [Au(C-acac)C(NEt2)-(NHBu)-Bu-t}] (1). Complex 1 reacts with 2-pyridinethiol (HSpy-2), C6H4(Cequivalent toCH)(2)-1,3 (2:1), [Ph3PCH2CO2Me]ClO4, [Me3S(O)]ClO4, or [Me3NH]ClO4 to give, respectively, [Au(Spy-2)-C(NEt2)(NHBu)-Bu-t}] (2), [AuC(NEt2)(NHBu)-Bu-t}(2)(mu-Cequivalent toCC(6)H(4)Cequivalent toC-3)] (3), [AuC(NEt2)(NHBu)-Bu-t}-CH(PPh3)CO2Me}]ClO4 (4), [AuC(NEt2)(NHBu)-Bu-t}CH2S(O)Me-2}]ClO4 (5), or [AuC(NEt2)(NHBu)-Bu-t}(NMe3)]ClO4 (6). The crystal structures of 1, 3, and 5 have been determined.
