  The invention provides a process for preparing 1-alkoxy-2-methyl-1-oxopropan-2-yl(meth)acrylate, e.g. 1-methoxy-2-methyl-1-oxopropan-2-yl(meth)acrylate, by transesterifying alkyl α-hydroxyisobutyrates.
