Mesoporous aluminosilicate-catalyzed allylation of carbonyl compounds and acetals

A mesoporous aluminosilicate (Al-MCM-41) was found to be an effective heterogeneous catalyst for the reaction of both carbonyl compounds and acetals with allylsilanes to afford the corresponding homoallyl silyl ethers and homoallyl alkyl ethers, respectively. Both the mesoporous structure and the presence of aluminum moiety were indispensable for the high catalytic activity of Al-MCM-41. Moreover, Al-MCM-41 could catalyze the reaction of acetals chemoselectively in the presence of the corresponding carbonyl compounds. The solid acid catalyst Al-MCM-41 could be recovered easily by filtration and could be reused three times without a significant loss of catalytic activity. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
Indium Triiodide (InI<sub>3</sub>)-Catalyzed Allylation of Carbonyl Compounds by Allylic Tins

Indium triiodide is an effective catalyst for the allylation of aldehydes via the transmetallation with allylic tin compounds. Moreover, the chelation-controlled allylation of α-alkoxyketones proceeded with a catalytic amount of indium triiodide.
Use of NbCl5 in the Sakurai reaction gave an unexpected outcome. Allylsilane reacted with aldehyde in 2:1-stoichiometry with concomitant formation of a cyclopropane ring. Mechanisticimplications of this anomalous reaction related to C4H7+ species are discussed based on the experimental and theoretical (ab initio) studies.

A monomeric [Cr(pyridine)(4)F-2]Br-+(-) is immobilized onto the dipyridyl-TentaGel resin. Allylations of aldehydes with 5-10 mol % of the CrF2-dipyridyi-TentaGel resin 2/Mn/TMSCl in THF provide the corresponding homoallylic alcohols in excellent yields after TMS-desilylations with a polymer-supported ammonium fluoride 3. The recovered CrF2-dipyridyi-TentaGel resins can be utilized multiple times without a decrease of reactivity. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
