    Described herein is a method to synthesize a perfluorinated allyl ether compound of formula (I) or a perfluorinated allyl amine compound of formula (II) Where Rf 1 and Rf 2 are (i) independently selected from a perfluorinated alkyl group comprising 1-7 carbon atoms, a perfluorinated aryl group comprising a 5- or 6-membered ring, or combinations thereof, and optionally comprising one or more catenated heteroatoms selected from N or O; or (ii) bonded together to form a perfluorinated ring structure having 4-8 ring carbon atoms, optionally comprising at least one catenated O or N atom; and Rf 3 is a perfluorinated alkyl group comprising 1-3 carbon atoms. The resulting perfluorinated allyl ether compounds disclosed herein may be used in polymer synthesis.

    A fluorine-containing polymer substantially comprising (A) at least one of fluorine-containing olefins of the formula:wherein X is a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom and Y is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, a fluorine atom, a trifluoromethyl group, a difluoromethyl group, a C1-C3 perf- luoroalkoxy group or a group of the formula:wherein m is an integer of 0 to and M is a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4 alkyl group, a sodium atom or a potassium atom but when X is a hydrogen atom, Y is always a hydrogen atom, (B) one or more of C4-C8 fluorine-containing dienes, (C) at least one iodine atom and (D) at least one saturated or unsaturated , fluoro or chlorofluorohydrocarbon group, the molar ratio of the diene (B) and the olefin (A) being from x 10-4 to5x 10-2, the iodine atom(s) (C) being from 0.001 to 10 % by weight based on the weight of the polymer and the molar ratio of the group (D) and the olefin (A) being from 1 x 10-5 to 5 x 10-2, can be cross-linked at atmospheric pressure at a cross-linking temperature in the presence of a cross-linking agent.

    A process for producing a readily crosslinkable liquid fluorine-containing polymer having a narrow molecular weight range distribution and containing iodine in the molecule in an amount of from 1 to 30% by weight based on the weight of the polymer, which process comprises polymerizing vinylidene fluoride and at least one other fluoroolefin in the presence of a radical producing source and an iodinated compound of the formula: Rf.lx wherein Rf is a saturated perfluorocarbon group, a saturated perfluorochlorocarbon group or a saturated fluorohydrocarbon group and x is an integer at least 1 corresponding to the bonding valency of Rf, whilst maintaining the proportion of the mole number of the monomeric components (M) to the mole number of the iodinated compound (I) in the range of from 10 to 1,200.
