Alkylidene acetoacetamides are useful building blocks for the preparation of a number of biologically active derivatives, including dehydro-β-amino-acid-containing peptidomimetics. A one-pot two-step protocol for the preparation of amino-acid-derived unsaturated acetoacetamides has been optimized.
