The complex kinetics and mechanism of the hydrolysis of the methylthiomethyl, methylsulfinylmethyl, and methylsulfonylmethyl 2-acetoxybenzoates, novel aspirin prodrugs, were studied. The pH profiles for the related salicylates and benzoates also were determined.
