A facile hydrophosphonylation of alkenes by phosphites promoted by potassium carbonate was developed. The reaction features include easy handling, environmental friendliness, and avoidance of the use of strong bases. A variety of alkenes are tolerated in this reaction, with moderate to excellent yields.
A straightforward and practical strategy for hydrophosphorylation of electron-deficient alkenes and alkynes to access γ-ketophosphine oxides, enabled by CPE strategy in the absence of a metal, base, and redox reagent, has been described.

Air (oxygen) induces the addition of secondary phosphine oxides and H-phosphinates to alkenes to selectively produce the corresponding anti-Markovnikov adducts in good to high yields. Mechanistic studies show that the addition probably proceeds via a radical chain mechanism.
