Series of peptide-based lariatethers derived from aza-18-crown-6 and bibracchial lariatethers (BiBLEs) based on 4,13-diaza-18-crown-6 have been prepared. Sidearms incorporate inter alia the amino acids glycine, alanine, phenylalanine, leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Cationbinding affinities for Na+ and K+ are reported.
