    Synthesis and Characterization of Liquid Crystalline Semiconducting Materials, Dialkyl-2-phenylnaphthalene Derivatives—Mesomorphic behavior and Charge carrier transport
    摘要:
    For establishment of high electronic charge carrier transport at ambient temperature, dialkyl derivatives of 2-phenylnaphthalene have been synthesized and characterized their liquid crystalline behaviors and photoelectrical properties. These materials exhibited smectic mesophases (Smectic A, B and E phases), at fairly low temperature range extended down below ambient temperature. Fast electronic transport of positive carriers was observed in SmE phase of 2-(4'-octylphenyl)-6-butylnaphthalene at 30degreesC, whose mobility was over 10(-2) cm(2)/Vs.

    Here, we describe an oxygen-bridged N-shaped π-electron core, dinaphtho[2,3-d:2′,3′-d′]benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]difuran (DNBDF), as a new entity of organic semiconducting materials. Interestingly, by introduction of flexible alkyl chains at appropriate positions, DNBDF π-cores exhibit solution processability, a highly stabilized crystal phase, high mobility, and blue luminescence as a solid.

    V‐shaped organic semiconductors have been designed and synthesized via a large‐scale applicable synthetic route. Solution‐crystallized films based on such molecules have demonstrated high‐performance transistor properties with maximum mobilities of up to 9.5 cm2 V−1 s−1 as well as pronounced thermal durability of up to 150 °C inherent in the V‐shaped cores.

    We report a facile synthetic protocol for preparation of dinaphtho[2,3-b:2′,3′-d]furan (DNF–V) derivatives. DNF–V derivatives showed high emissive behaviour in solid. A solution-crystallized transistor based on alkylated DNF–V derivatives showed an excellent carrier mobility of up to 1.3 cm2 V−1 s−1, thereby proving to be a new solution-processable active organic semiconductor with high emission and high mobility.

    [Problem] To provide an organic compound that is easy to synthesize, and has excellent chemical stability, semiconductor characteristics (high carrier mobility) and high solubility in a solvent. [Solution] A compound represented by formula (1) or formula (2): wherein, in formula (1), X is oxygen, sulfur or selenium; n is 0 or 1; R 1 to R 3 are hydrogen, fluorine, alkyl having 1 to 20 carbons, aryl, pyridyl, furyl, thienyl, thiazolyl or the like. However, except for a case where X is selenium, a case where all of R 1 to R 3 are simultaneously hydrogen is excluded, and a case where X is sulfur and all of R 1 are simultaneously butyl is also excluded. In formula (2), X is oxygen, sulfur or selenium; n is 0 or 1; R 1 to R 2 are hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 20 carbons, aryl, pyridyl, furyl, thienyl, thiazolyl or the like; however, a case where all of R 1 to R 2 are simultaneously hydrogen is excluded.
