    Directional probes of the hydrophobic component of the aromatic ring binding site of norepinephrine N-methyltransferase

    We investigated the directional nature of the bulk tolerance and hydrophobic binding in the aromatic ring binding region of the active site of norepinephrine N-methyltransferase (NMT) by comparing the substrate and inhibitor activities of m- and p-phenyl-substituted derivatives of amphetamine, phenylethanolamine, and alpha-methylbenzylamine. The para isomers of amphetamine and phenylethanolamine displayed significantly greater activities as inhibitor and substrate, respectively, than the meta isomers, which indicated that the bulk tolerance was near the para position. For benzylamines, the greatest inhibitory activity was observed for the meta isomer, demonstrating a significant difference in the binding requirements for phenylethylamines and benzylamines. These findings are consistent with a two-state model for the NMT active site that has been proposed elsewhere to account for its ability to bind both benzylamines and phenylethylamines in a fully extended side-chain conformation.

The present invention relates to a resin composition comprising a compound having at least one of a glycidyl group and/or an epoxy group and an inorganic microfine particle, a resin composition comprising three components of a phenolic compound, a compound having at least one of a glycidyl group and/or an epoxy group and an inorganic microfine particle, a flame retardant resin composition comprising a polyhydric phenol and an inorganic microfine particle, and a dispersing element containing an inorganic microfine particle obtained by a hydrolysis condensation reaction of alkoxide and/or metal carboxylate in a dispersion medium.

    The present invention provides a silane compound which can be preferably used in an electronics application and the like, as a resin composition which is excellent in heat resistance, pressure resistance, water resistance, low moisture absorption property, low dielectric property, mechanical and chemical stability, and heat conductivity and capable of forming cured articles which hardly reduce physical properties even under severe environments such as high temperature and high pressure and high humidity; its production method, and a resin composition containing the silane compound.     The invention relates to a method of controlling aphids that are resistant to neonicotinoid insecticides, using a trifluoromethylpyri(mi)dine derivative in free form or in agrochemically acceptable salt form as well as the use of compositions comprising said compound to control neonicontinoid resistant insects. In particular the methods relate to controlling neonicotinoid resistant insects in the Aphididae family, that are resistant to one or more neonicotinoid insecticides. Methods of the invention find particular use in controlling neonicotinoid resistant insects in crops of useful plants. Furthermore, the invention extends to methods of controlling plant viruses spread by neonicotinoid resistant insects.
