Skeletal Diversity in Catalytic Synthesis of (1,3-Oxazacycloalk-3-ylmethyl)-Substituted Pyrroles

A series of bi- and trinuclear pyrrole derivatives was prepared by the 5 mol % ZrOCl2 center dot 8H(2)O-catalyzed CH-sp(2)-aminomethylation reaction of pyrrole with bis(1,3-oxazacycloalk-3-yl)methanes. The reaction proceeds at the positions 2, 5 or 2 of pyrrole depending on the amount of aminomethylating reagents obtained from formaldehyde and alpha,omega-amino alcohols (2-aminoethan-1-ol, 3-aminopropan-1-ol, 4-aminobutan-1-ol). The aminomethylation reaction of indole with bis(1,3-oxazolidin-3-yl)methane proceeds at the position 3. In the case of carbazole, N-aminomethylation proceeds under these conditions.

The present invention relates to compositions having broad effectiveness against bacteria and fungi, which includes (a) an iodopropynylbutyl compound selected from iodopropynylbutyl esters, ethers, acetals, carbamates and carbonates and (b) one or more O-formals formed by the reaction of a monovalent or polyvalent C1-C10-alkyl, -aryl or -aralkyl alcohol or of a glycol or glycol ether and a formaldehyde-supplying compound. The compositions are also stable and effective in the form of liquid concentrates. The present invention also relates to the use of such compositions in industrial products and to industrial products which comprise these compositions.
The invention relates to a preservative with reduced formaldehyde and amine emission which comprises
a) at least one N-formal,
b) at least one emission-reducing additive which is chosen from urea, urea derivatives, amino acids, guanidine and guanidine derivatives, and
c) monoethylene glycol,
and to the use of the preservative in a technical product.
