To meet the continual demands of more-sensitive immunoassays, the synthesis of novel luminescent Eu(III) chelate labels having similar substituted 4-(phenylethynyl)pyridine chromophores in three different chelate structure classes are reported. Significantly enhanced luminescence intensities were obtained, evidently caused by the intra-ligand charge transfer (ILCT) mediated sensitization, but the alternative

found to be better than monomeric or dimeric homologues. Only a limited number of trimeric surfactants have been synthesized and studied so far, probably owing to the difficulty in synthesis. In this article, we synthesized some novel star‐shaped trimeric cationic surfactants based on the alkylation of the 3 hydroxyl groups of the phloroglucinol nuclei as a core (i.e., spacer) with 3 dodecyl or 3 octyl

New acylhydrazones containing stericallyhindered phenolic fragments with different degrees of steric shielding were synthesized by reactions of 2,2′,2″-[benzene-1,3,5-triyltris(oxy)]triacetic acid trishydrazide with hydroxybenzaldehydes. According to the NMR data, the products in solution exist as relatively stable conformational cis/trans isomers with respect to the C(O)-NH bond.
Polymeric salen-Ti(IV) and V(V) complexes were employed in the enantioselective O-acetyl cyanation of aldehydes with potassium cyanide and acetic anhydride. The crosslinked polymeric salen-Ti(IV) catalyst exhibited good activities and enantioselectivities, up to 91 % ee with 99 % conversion was obtained at -20degreesC with 1 mol % of catalyst (based on bimetallic catalytic unit). Moreover, six consecutive recyclings with the easily recovered crosslinked polymeric catalyst showed no obvious decrease in either activity or enantioselectivity. Linear polymeric salen-V(V) catalyst showed good catalytic efficiency too, up to 94 % ee with 99 % conversion was obtained at -42degreesC with 5 mol % of catalyst. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. Synthesis and evaluation of a tri-armed molecular receptor for recognition of mercury and cyanide toxicants
tri-armed-pyrene-linked molecular receptor, 5 has been designed, synthesised and evaluated for ionic recognition. It has been observed that the synthesised molecular receptor can recognise mercury and cyanide ions through a change in colour, UV–Vis and fluorescence intensity. The binding stoichiometry of the receptor and these ionic species has been found to be 1:1 through Job’s plots, Benesi–Hildebrand plots and
