  Abstract A novel acylphloroglucinol, (5 Z ,8 Z 11 Z ,13 E ,17 Z )-2′-eicosa-15( S )-hydroxy-5,8,11,13,17-pentaenoylphloroglucinol, has been isolated from the brown alga Zonaria tournefortii and its structure proved by spectroscopic and chemical methods.
