in different solvents (dichloromethane, THF, nitromethane, acetonitrile) to yield a variety of highly functionalized branched-chain sugars. Finally, extension of this reaction to 3′-α-mesyloxynitriles of nucleosides has lead to 3′-vinylazido- and 3′,-azido-3′-azidomethyl nucleosides.
