Synthese 1,4-disubstituierter tetrasilane durch selektive spaltung von Si-phenyl-bindungen

Just two of three Si-Ph bonds per silicon atom are cleaved by excess HBr under pressure. Thus. pentaphenyldisilane reacts with HBr at room temperature to give 1-phenyl-2,2,3,3-tetrabromodisilane. Subsequent coupling with bis-(t-butyl)-mercury yields 1.4-diphenyloctabromotetrasilane, which can also be obtained directly from 1,4-dichlorooctaphenyltetrasilane and HBr. Reduction ot 1.4-diphenyloctabromotetrasilane with LiAlH4 affords 1,4-diphenyltetrasilane, which can he converted to the corresponding 1,4-dihalo derivatives hy HCl or HBr.
Platinum-catalyzed Generation of Silylenes from Hydrodisilanes and Their Addition to α,β-Unsaturated Ketones

The reaction of hydrodisilanes with α,β-unsaturated ketones in the presence of a platinum catalyst gave high yields of oxasilacyclopentenes, which are probably formed by the addition of silylenes to the enones. Treatment of the oxasilacyclopentenes with methyllithium followed by hydrolysis gave the corresponding β-silyl ketones.

The syntheses of Bromodisilanes BretaSi2H6-eta and Iododisilanes IetaSi2H6-eta (eta = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5), starting from aryldisilanes AretaSi2H6-eta (Ar = phenyl, alpha-naphthyl, mesityl) are reported. The Si-29-NMR-spectra of all compounds, including (SiSi)-Si-29-Si-29-coupling constants, have been measured.

The IR and Raman vibrational spectra of the title compounds have been measured and assigned with the aid of normal coordinate analyses. SiSi-force constants have been calculated. They increase with increasing electronegativity of the halogen X.
