  The present invention relates to a high yield process of preparation of, [1-[2-(Dimethylamino)-1- (4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]-cyclohexanol]through potassium hydroxide mediated demethylation of [1-[2-(Dimethyl amino-1-(4-methoxyphenyl) ethyl cyclohexanol]in monoethylene glycol under phase transfer conditions.
