A series of N-alkenylsubstituteddiazoimides were prepared and subjected to Rh(II) catalyzed decomposition. The initially generated rhodium carbenoid undergoes ready cyclization onto the neighboring amide carbonyl oxygen atom to generate an isomünchnone intermediate.
