  Herbicidal methods employing anilino compounds having the formula: ##EQU1## wherein R and R.sub.1 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are selected from the group consisting of CN and COOY, where Y is an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; X is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, lower alkoxy having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, nitro, trifluoromethyl, and halo; and n is an integer from 0 to 2, are disclosed.
