    TiO2/MMT nanocomposite was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy-dispersive Xray spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) techniques. The average size of TiO2 nanoparticles was decreased from 60-80 nm to 40-60nm through the immobilization on MMT. The main influential factors such as the TiO2/MMT dose, ciprofloxacin (CIP) concentration, pH of the solution, UV light regions, reusability of the catalyst and electrical energy determination were studied. The addition of radical scavengers (e.g. chloride, iodide, sulfate and bicarbonate) and enhancers (e.g. hydrogen peroxide, potassium iodate and peroxydisulfate) on the degradation efficiency was studied. The predicted data from the designed artificial neural network model were found to be in a good agreement with the experimental data (R-2=0.9864). The main intermediates of CIP degradation were determined by GC-Mass spectrometry. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

    The present invention relates to a serum or plasma separating composition comprising an oligomer of cyclopentadiene, an organic gelling agent and a dispersant for the organic gelling agent. The organic gelling agent is a condensation product of sorbitol and an aromatic aldehyde. The dispersant for the organic gelling agent is a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer having HLB of 1.0 to 9.0. The invention provides a serum or plasma separating composition which does not give out a bad smell by sterilization with radiation, has no influence derived from hemolysis, etc. on biochemical examination values of serum or plasma, does not cause phase separation of components, and is equal to the prior art in serum or plasma separating property, preservation stability, etc. Furthermore, the invention provides a serum or plasma separating composition which hardly brings about flow during preservation by standing in a horizontal lying position and hardly exhibits impaired invertibility with the lapse of time.

    The present invention is directed to a fuel oil for diesel engines, which is reduced in the discharges of particulate matters (PM) and carbon dioxide (CO) in exhaust gas upon combustion while retaining a high cetane number, characterized in that the fuel oil composition comprises a mineral oil as a principal component; and (a) 2-13 wt% of one or more dialkyl phthalate compounds represented by the chemical formula (1), and (b) 2-13 wt% of one or more glycol ether compounds represented by the chemical formula (2); and    the total content of said components (a) and (b) is from 4 to 15 wt%.
